This is my spin on several ideas I found on Pinterest. I thought it would be a good first post because it definitely gives a feel for my personal creative style! Currently, the one I made is hanging from the light in my living room! This idea would be great for a little girls bedroom, a fun colorful mobile for a baby, or even to hang in your home like I have!
What You Will Need:
- wire hanger
- needle nose pliers
- hot glue gun/glue sticks
- ribbons (try and keep a color scheme going when choosing)
- bead strands (small strands-reused mardi gras style)
- large beads ( I used this as the hanger for the project, you can use whatever you like to hang the project from, just remember whatever it is it needs to be able to withstand the weight of the craft.)
- scarf scraps (cut into strips)
- scissors
Unwind that wire hanger and shape it into a circle. Use the needle nose pliers here to undo any kinks along the way. You really could make any shape you wanted with the hanger, but I think that the circle is the easiest. Once you have the basic shape down use the pliers create a "hook" shape at each end to connect the ends together. Then tighten those ends so that they are attached.
After you have your circle created, get ready to wrap! I used the scarf strips to wrap the wire circle and to create a base. I recommend putting dots of hot glue every so often to hold down the strips and to keep them secure. Remember a strong foundation is a key element here. This is a picture of what my base looked like!
Next, you are going to start tying on your strands of ribbon, scarf strips, and beads. When doing this it is a good idea to establish some sort of pattern and make sure that you have enough ribbon, beads, and scraps to make it all the way around your base. I recommend starting to tie your strips on one side of the hooks and work your way around the base. I also recommend trying double knots in the tops and remember you can use the scissors to trim down excess later!
As you can see I have created a pattern of colors that compliment one another. You can do whatever you like. Mine has light pink, dark pink, flowers, purple, and white. Also, feel free to add in any other strands of decoration you can think of adding! I allowed the length of the ribbons and beads to differ. You do not want them to be TOO different however different alternating lengths are alright! And again, you can always trim later.
Keep on tying those ribbons and strips to your base!
The ribbons and beads will start to get heavy! Mine started to try and fall off the table. I used a candle to set inside the base to help hold the project on the table.
Almost there! Keep tying until you make it all the way around to the hook on the other side! When you are finished you can hold the ring up and trim any excess off the knots at the top, and the length hanging at the bottom.
When your ready to hang, be patient. This was the trickiest part. I took 2 large stands of beads and looped them like an X around and base and across the center.
This picture shoes the X. Just be sure the way you pull the beads through that they are secure and that the extra is going up ( you will use that to hang).

Take the excess at the top of the bead strands, to create a loop. Use this loop to hand your project.
When you are finished adjust the beads so that the project hangs straight. I used some extra ribbons, and scraps to decorate just under the top loop.
Are you ready for the finished project yet? Here you go!
I hope you enjoy! Any comments are appreciated! Any questions are accepted! And and feel free to share your ideas and improvements with me! Happy Crafting!
